Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your day on the water. Still have a question? Give us a call — we're happy to help.
Do I need a boating license to rent a pontoon?+
You don't need a boating license, but anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who operates the boat must have a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card. A quick online temporary certificate works, and we'll point you to it. We rent to boaters with some prior experience — if you're brand new to the water, add a licensed captain and we'll handle the driving.
How old do I have to be to rent?+
The person driving the boat must be at least 25 years old. Everyone else is welcome aboard — our pontoons are family-friendly and we provide life jackets for all ages.
How many people can the boats hold?+
We run two Berkshire pontoons that seat up to 9 guests each and a Viaggio tritoon that seats up to 12. Coast Guard–approved life jackets are provided for everyone aboard.
Where do I pick up the boat?+
We meet you at our dock — the Seminole Street boat launch at 200 Seminole St, Clearwater, right at the base of the Clearwater Beach causeway. You'll get exact directions and a check-in time in your booking confirmation.
How much does a pontoon rental cost?+
Rentals are $399 for 4 hours, $499 for 6 hours, and $599 for 8 hours, plus tax and fuel. Adding a licensed captain is available — just ask when you book. Your exact total is shown at checkout on FareHarbor.
What's included with the rental?+
Every rental includes the boat, Coast Guard–approved safety gear, a bimini shade top, a Bluetooth stereo, a cooler, and a friendly pre-trip orientation so you leave the dock confident. Rentals are plus tax and fuel.
Can we see dolphins?+
Very often, yes. Wild bottlenose dolphins live in the waters around Clearwater Beach and are spotted almost daily, especially in the calmer morning and evening hours. On your own boat you can idle along at your own pace and let them come to you.
What if the weather is bad?+
Safety comes first. If conditions are unsafe on your rental day, we'll work with you to reschedule or refund your trip. Florida showers often pass quickly, and we'll help you make the call.
