One Tree Island

One little island. One lone tree. A whole lot of Florida magic. Just about 20 minutes from our Clearwater dock sits one of the most photographed spots on the water, and it makes the perfect quick stop on a One Tree Island boat day.

One Tree Island is exactly what it sounds like: a tiny patch of sand crowned by a single, stubborn tree that has become a local icon. You will spot it long before you arrive, standing alone against the open blue. Pull up, drop anchor, and you have got yourself an instant backdrop for the kind of family photo everyone actually wants printed and framed.

The water here stays shallow and calm, which makes it a favorite with families. Little ones can wade and splash close to the boat while you kick back under the bimini shade top. There is no dock and no crowd of buildings, just warm, clear water, soft sand underfoot, and that famous tree waiting for its close-up. Bring the cooler, cue up the Bluetooth stereo, and let the afternoon stretch out.

The best part of a One Tree Island boat trip is how easy it is to pair with everything else out here. Wild bottlenose dolphins cruise these waters almost daily, so many of our renters roll the island stop into a dolphin cruise and get the best of both. Glide out, watch for fins arcing beside you, then anchor at the island for a swim and a photo before heading home.

Take the helm yourself or add a licensed captain who knows exactly where the tree sits and how to read the shallows around it. Either way, our late-model Berkshire pontoon (up to 9) and Viaggio tritoon (up to 12) get you there in comfort. Book a Half-Day Cruise and you will have plenty of time to reach One Tree Island, linger, and still chase a few dolphins on the way back.
